The Lord said to Abram:  "Go forth from the land of your kinsfolk and from your father's house to a land that I will show you."  Genesis 12:1

I woke one morning with a powerful impulse to attend Mass as well as an equally strong desire to go back to sleep. Even more than the extra sleep, I wanted to avoid someone I suspected might attend that liturgy.  In the end I obeyed the inner nudge and went to Mass, where I immediately encountered the person had successfully dodged for years.

I cannot put into words what happened that morning. How do you explain the mystery of forgiveness and reconciliation  I can say that finally letting go of the familiar feelings of anger, resentment and bitterness was extraordinarily freeing. When I learned that the person was moving out of state the next morning, I could only marvel at God's timing.

The Spirit continues to call us to move out of our comfort zone and into unfamiliar territory. Sometimes that involves a change in physical locations and at other times a change of heart.

Reflection
Holding a grudge or sustaining anger against another hurts only ourselves.
This piece should be entitled "Away from our discomfort zone."
It's so easy!
It's so hard!
It's so worth it! crsr
