The expression, " A June bride," reminds us that this month is the favorite for weddings.  It is said that the sixth month was named for one of Rome's leading families, the Juiliuses, and was initiated by the celebration of the festival of the Roman goddess Juno on the first of this month. She was the protector of women throughout their lifetime, and it was an old Roman belief that she brought good fortune to all marriages begun in her month.

June is indeed filled with beauty and blessings. But, like every marriage, it also has its share of pain and hardship. So, be aware that today, or any day, you might be an invited guest at a monkey wedding- an old South African expression for the simultaneous occurrences of rain and sunshine.

Today, if you are aware of something unpleasant happening simultaneously with something enjoyable, don't be resentful or angry at whatever is "raining on your parade." Instead you can smile and say to yourself or others, "It's a monkey wedding day" and be grateful for the sunshine.

Reflection
When we get to heaven, we will understand how everything is connected and every moment of existence of everything contributes to everything that happens and everyone who has ever lived.  For now, make the most of it--and that doesn’t mean, as Emerson would say "Make the most of yourself, for that is all there is of you." it means make the most of it because it is God's gift to you. crsr
